Mideast Tunes is a project of Mideast Youth. The site provides a platform for emerging underground artists in the Middle East and North Africa, where music is a form of activism. A variety of the region’s alternative musicians, from hip hop and trance artists to metal and alt-rock groups, are represented on the site.

This was by far the most complicated WordPress theme I personally designed and developed. The design needed to appeal to a wide audience, whether alternative, punk or classical, and complement the accompanying iPhone app. The site’s development features tabbed browsing by genre or country, posts separated into band or news templates, a music player for each band, and a contact form which allows for file uploading.

The site has been featured on CNN and Planet Green.
